Madeleine Sankey - Artist

Since retiring, Madeleine has taken up drawing more regularly and this was influenced very much by the fact that David, a welder by trade (they ran a successful wrought iron business on the Island for ten years) was asked to restore railings around the graves at Old St Runius Church, just round the corner from where they live. She took many photographs of the church, drew it and went on to draw many other Manx churches to add to the portfolio. Manx places and scenes, well-known and not so well-known, followed. She is always on the look-out for new or unusual subjects.

Madeleine's drawings always start from her own photographic reference, but if she was asked specifically to draw from someone else's photograph on a commission basis, she would be more than happy to do so. Any commissions are welcomed.

Her notelets which are quarter size prints of her original A4 pencil sketches may be seen or purchased from the MostlyManx shop in Nelson Street, Douglas.
