Kathryn Mitchell - known as Katy - is a potter, producing contemporary wheel-thrown and hand-painted functional tableware. Her pots are made with the intention that each piece should be used and embraced in everyday life. Katy’s forms are simple and contemporary, whilst the illustrations are delicate, colourful and inspired by the beauty (and oddity) of her island home.
Katy’s designs reflect life on the Isle of Man, the houses and farm buildings around her studio and fond childhood memories of the Island’s glens, whilst taking influences from Manx iconography, vintage souvenirs and the quintessential work of early 20th century ceramic designer Clarice Cliff. |
